# Setting Up Paid Content at Penana

**(Note: To safeguard paid readers' benefits, paid content cannot be deleted.)**<br>

You can easily convert your free story to Paid Content by following these steps:

1\. Click on any of your stories (we have used “Coen’s Idea Sketches” as an example here

2\. Then Click on the “Draft/Manage Story” button.

<figure><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/Vw74nYtpT-JgaocBsKt4Oimh_Aympcvrb-iaG_wD0jpDNq4ZgbTpz5ieVrvv0SxpqP30DU-W9l-9UBnNZhkd9bWt90OqS355NDFFMn6soy-CwofZTcvF4dWPMTU91x5DQdPVyASmqBvVdpvM1k5XUQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

3\. Click on “Publishing options” and switch your publication type from “Free” to “Paid Content”.

<figure><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Zx962yjYCerNIDuXi-PCXQIUdTCIZ28j2LryHXkFeZAsAZ4HPjbZ3-kp8yKJ3cspCJlDuTG0K6BEuOf66_VoRZ1FkecOeaZtzXLZMawgtw10KJzTuA5bIVtZ_YwxviI4bCjt5i53Dtg5Hk3vNmkJRg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

4\. Once you have set your story to “Paid Content”, a list of default settings will appear as below.

<figure><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/SgFcoJKrwzKdSIp--2Zt74aX3ckc6biAY7QbCTqEEQmzllNDUl2jqx3kEskmTmWS-5eeZgyC6bYYoqonfTs4nUsUxhz6SH-_0q9gWlUlNuwN_obsHCbKi9yZlECHh3AGxrF32cU-0WI_D5ZeQhI93Q" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

While most of them are self-explanatory, we would like to go over the following items:

**4.1 Locked Ranges**&#x20;

Once you clicked “+ Add New” next to the Locked Range item, you will see that there are currently 4 options to choose from:<br>

1. This chapter onwards - Paid content will be set starting from a specific chapter onwards

In the below example, we have set chapters form chapter 3 onwards as Paid Content.

<figure><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/XuT81gn4q5XsswStmLLerTwImoEypGH7p6_xabw4YZdm4MYQv6NGrq7d3NSr-PUNXX0N1KsOtoB2bTmEY5xBg7hydDZaAEAYwBZ_qLVjqz2w7XzJ1lkbnobHU60AGHD1-Zw4q-hp15GeLDSvo0DFIA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

2. Fixed range - Paid content will be set with a specific chapter range

In the below example, we have set chapters 3 to 8 as Paid Content.

<figure><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/EMzKzdHnvIw-4PCD3VZDIEWaVJ1XiC6ySMYc1uWRJuVuX-jmtce6RbHQDkyTrqy26IbS2vzQh-mYOpWgz5bRtCTkH-NW_ROAIQ5tDKckVjR5b0-z2vDBConLwm-ClWv-w355zwD2MM6Njb6Nx9Mp0A" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

3. Lock latest chapters - Paid content will be set from the latest (most recent) chapters

In the below example, we have set the 5 latest chapters as Paid Content.

<figure><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/jL9Yd2d3Gs-M36AQZirQf31RK2gvM5JjaiDZ9S-HlHaNF5aWJY8LluLYD8gB_KBzQ3fAOMnqUDSe_6i98_v2Gj7HaQ3dvSox-Cn3WIA5j2Cibgikm6YsGps7c1BkdDmwrzrdbR6DBnqRy2CTRujS7Q" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In this option, we can also click on “+ Add ending chapter” as an alternative to lock a latest chapter range.

In the below example, we have set the latest chapters range as the 5th latest chapter to the 2nd latest chapter as Paid Content.

<figure><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/iq0MttXZpoTkkJkOWHLCqrx4S9mj2vRwLW3cykD2OOW4tfWQcaWlB6VAfv7lWx8tILPTcC5-a0T5C9FMWgvW9kGQ4wmbDygDcvy1KNmo9_RDHmuRDCy-0SdUviexg_NWBrk2f1LBdAjBjPanP-_rPQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

4. All chapters except latest chapters - Paid content will be set to all but not the latest (most recent) chapters

In the below example, we have set all chapters but not the latest 1 chapter as Paid Content.

<figure><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/yFDpR7vasVS7cNMSeqfWJ-HoKo73LKZDzXR72TpJanavvf4fdKYUly-8KwvwuDE_Ycalpu7rlGgHof9Ubzu9XtI2fZFQ1oPRcQWYKorwwsJ-F9xtj7EJsZIDh_-atazJtSzXmz9nZ7yIe1YCFcZ3hg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

All of the above Lock ranges practices are commonly used by popular paid writers and provide an automated process for writers to maintain a paid content publication cycle to cater reader/fan preferences.<br>

**4.2 Paying Mode**

<figure><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/UGaGrMXo5EiAuLuRLhHxywUPeDowepMUPhGcal7Q6K2pUmBfAKMlksFGhLNxncEgBqWKSsJIx0jMChu190HQAawr0_SbvjeZbbbFEHTar-yltBqmlEIW6LbF4MXTsNzZ8aQ_52iTNv4u8rJRA4X0ow" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

There are currently 3 paying modes (they can all be applied together):

1. Pay by entire story
2. Pay by chapter
3. Open to Subscribers (Discuss in next section)

If you select “Pay by entire story”, you can charge readers with a set amount of Pena Coins to purchase your entire story. Here we have used 1000 (equivalent to to HKD 10.00) as an example (See Blue boxes).&#x20;

Similarly, if you select “Pay by chapter”, you can charge readers per chapter with a fee. Here we have used 5 Pena Coins (equivalent to to HKD 0.05) as an example (See Green boxes). Note that Penana also supports TWD, USD, GBP, MYR, SGD as currencies.

<figure><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/rpWoufaQbs2uZAuwlqaVJuSTVAq5-bF-wnFS7yy-I0FCeISkg0mrSFGUnzFs12-t753d1TT0SWRPpI6ql-2X8MUHll_QNdGUMIoQvDiR0G4zC6g_pGGcjvdQCaX7wqyNdI037A9qrRfGF7tLT6ksEA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Below is an example of how a paid content would look like from readers’ view.

<figure><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/9shDhwTIBkkndeAeJAjpz9u99vOgSDMpaN9DbvpaNxe7SIvDbWHftXudDddXL0zbCD8qbodGXXKDzg7fRgu-MKO3bZ2NLwIbE3Neo34DoWT7tOtzoq4CVtsoHRMWIcIZ_2P7XnxN494-0_g9I6mh1A" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In addition, you may notice that there is a “Open to subscribers” option in Paying Mode when setting up your Paid Content.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/lLZSqqUp1I83NGtYRx8IZyqqphF22LFDnCZA9dZiDfgxoG8F_QlTbaF3_gZsu7_03Qq5sAd9JMtyde65s4HiP31dqVyhnR9VOLcaYfXp4L4BWHc4Unr5RDAyg49CyKIQ117r_wmFhhF4Fnd98iUTXw" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

To activate this option, you have to create a subscription plan first and then add the story to the subscription plan in Paying Mode.
